Replacing Your Roof? Consider the Season & Contractor

With 60 years in the residential roofing and siding business, our team at A. Clark Roofing and Siding LP receive a lot of questions including, when is the best time to install your new roof?

As roofing contractors, A. Clark Roofing and Siding LP works year-round, so whenever you are ready to replace your roof – we’ll be there. The busiest time of the year for most roofing companies is usually late summer through the fall months. For this reason we encourage homeowners to consider replacing their roof ‘off season’ during spring, summer, and even the winter months.

Most homeowners wait as long as they can to extend the life of their roof as much as possible. So the best time to replace your roof is when you have planned ahead and are not making a quick and rash decision. The timing of your roof replacement can have an effect on the cost of the project, how long it will take and, ultimately, the overall quality of the work done. For example, September to November is “rush season” for most roofers. People anticipate the oncoming winter, so they want to get the project done as soon as they can.

At A. Clark Roofing and Siding LP, we understand the variables and as good neighbors, here are some factors to consider that can help you time your project:

Weather is the single biggest factor when considering a roof replacement. Certain seasons are impossible to work in, both for contractors and the materials needed. Avoid peak rain and snow periods. Likewise heat can be an issue during the middle of summer. Try to time your project for late spring to mid-summer for best results.

Weather permitting, spring can be an excellent time since people will be recovering from holiday spending and waiting on tax return checks. The reason is that spring represents a slower time of year for most contractors and roofing materials are conducive to spring temperatures.

While many people want to put the project off to avoid the sound of hammers during the day, realize that planning ahead rather than procrastinating will give you the best results. You want to be able to catch the roofing contractor at an ideal time when jobs are slow and the best members of their crew are readily available.
